A Starting Line (Of Sorts)

Greetings from the snowy tundra of Iowa. Ok, it's not snowy here but the way time flys it will be before you know it. Temps here are already in the mid 40s at night. Great weather for walking and jogging. Which brings me to the purpose of this blog.
I am doing this for accountabilty reasons as I work towards weight loss and endurance goals.

My Story in brief detail:
Between 05'- 06' I worked on getting myself in shape. By June of 06' I had lossed 50lbs and participated in a local 20k race. Overall I did fine in the race and was pleased that I had finished such a feat.
However, following that race I slowly began to lose my focus. By spring of 07' I had gained 40lbs back. Drag huh? But I can only blame myself. I had a very hard time finding that earlier focus I'd had. Until.....

One day I was listening to the WDWRadio podcast and I heard Jonathan Dichter talking about training to participate in the 09' half marathon at Walt Disney World.
Jonathan has a blogspot http://voiceofmousetunes.blogspot.com/ which I began to read. I became inspired and slowly began my road back to better health. To date I have lost 19 of those 40 pounds and I'm not looking back.

Another person who has been an inspiration to me is Rae! She has done a nice job of holding my feet to the fire. She is responsible for me starting this blog. If you are interested in learning more about Rae! just look in the right side column and click on "Rae's Place".

Some days are tough and accountability is a must. My comments to Jonathan and Rae can be found under my user name "caballerofan" which I created because I enjoy the film The Three Caballeros.

I also need to give a shout out to Bryan Ripper. Bryan has been kind enough to exchange e-mails with me regarding training from time to time. If you enjoy Disney then you must check out Bryans podcast at http://allaboutthemouse.com/ Jonathan is his co-host.

Thanks for being there for me guys. It means more than I can express.

To wrap things up.
Going forward I plan to post how things are going. I will also be posting meals which is something that Jonathan and Rae do and I feel that will help my focus quite a bit.
I will most likely do posts in the evenings. That way I can log both exercise and complete meal information.

This blog thing is a new experience for me so we'll see how this goes.

Till the next post....

Welcome! I must say it has made it easier to hold self accountable for failing backwards.

And when we have a good support system, outside of the family, it helps. To know that we are not alone in the journey of loosing weight, and everyone sharing their love of Disney.

And I can't wait to meet you as well at Mouse Fest!
